National Parks Association (NPA) is a member-based community organisation dedicated to the protection and appreciation of nature. Since 1957 we have worked persistently to advance the integrity and diversity of nature across the land, rivers and seas of NSW, with a special focus on protected areas and their interconnection with the wider landscape. We also help people to explore, study, care for, learn about and appreciate nature through a wide variety of nature-based activities.

NPA Illawarra is part of our extensive community network of regional and specialist groups. For over 45 years the group has brought deep local knowledge and energy to its goal of protecting the varied coasts,  plains and escarpments of the Illawarra region.
